Salmon River Steelhead

Spring 2021 is well on it's way here and with it will come plenty of amazing fishing opportunities. Right now, we are fishing for Steelhead in the Salmon River. We will remain fishing for Steelhead in the Salmon River until the end of April. The month of April is known to produce some of the best Steelhead fishing of the year! You will have the shot at fresh fish entering the river to make their annual spawning run as well as drop-back Steelhead, which are fish that have already spawned and are heading back to the lake. Drop-back Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River is my favorite! These fish are hungry and are usually feeding heavily! Not to mention, the weather is much more enjoyable than during the winter months. The crowds aren't usually too bad and we usually have enough water to float most of the Salmon River, including its middle and lower stretches that cannot be easily accessed in low water. West Branch of the Delaware

With Spring on it's way, we get closer and closer towards our trout season on the West Branch of the Delaware River in Deposit, NY. The famed Hendrickson hatch on the West Branch of the Delaware River will begin mid to late April and will last about a month. This is the best time of the year to come out and target large fish on dry flies. Wherever you look on the river, chances are you will see a rising fish. The fishing is still challenging, but with a little skill and luck you will hook up with the fish we are targeting. Fish up to 20" are certainly not uncommon on the West Branch of the Delaware. The streamer fishing this time of the year can also be excellent during the non hatch periods of the day. White is the best color to throw on the Delaware system and the fish react very well to it. On our guided drift boat trips, we will cover lots of water and put flies in front of a lot of fish! If you are looking to fish one of the most scenic rivers in NY and possibly the best trout fishing on the entire East Coast, come give us a look. We still have a fair amount of openings for this Spring. Get out and enjoy the fresh air!
