Salmon River Spring Steelhead Fishing 2025

This month has been absolutely fantastic for Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River. The cold, snowy winter provided us with plenty of cool water to keep the season going strong all the way to the end of April. It is truly amazing how many fish we currently have in our system. Top to bottom we are seeing excellent catches of Steelhead ranging from 22-32" with some fish exceeding the 32" mark. I anticipate this week being the peak of fishing before it starts to fall off as these fish work their way back to Lake Ontario. The warmer temperatures in the forecast along with lack of rainfall will cause the water temps to increase and flows to decrease. We have been mostly float fishing with 10mm beads and back-trolling Yakima Maglip plugs. A reminder to all my repeat customers, if you would like to get out in November and December for fall Steelhead now is the time to start planning your dates. This is our last week of guiding the river before we say goodbye until September 15th. Now starts Lake Ontario fishing!

If you would like to book a Steelhead trip, peak time is November, December, and April.
